C4 OBD2 Dongle a Global Success for Mobile Devices

Mobile devices, the revolutionary open telematics OS and telematics infrastructure provider, has demonstrated the value of the unique OBD2 dongle for the self-install fleet management market.

Silencing the critics of the small and compact form factor, Mobile Devices has just deployed its first series of OBD2 dongle successfully in 4 countries over a range of vertical markets including mix fleet, leasing and private car Insurance as well through various insurance brokers and all in the space of just 12 months.

In partnership with service providers in the UK, Spain and the US, the dongle is delivering plug-in telematics and risk management, including services such as driver behaviour rating, speeding alerts, engine monitoring and much more…

The key to the C4 OBD2 Dongle’s success is, of course, its openness. Running on Morpheus3 OS, the first open telematics operating system, the device is entirely programmable directly by the service provider, using a very powerful SDK.

With Morpheus3 SDK, developers are able to reach deep down into the device and access components such as accelerometer, gyro or GPS. Through the SDK, they can also develop and integrate their own applications on the device and access standard OBD data from 5 supported protocols. They also have the opportunity to safely integrate their own extended stacks.

Other unique features making the C4 OBD2 Dongle unique include:

  •     Assisted GPS technology to ensure perfect positioning from inside the vehicle
  •     500Mhz ARM CPU and enough memory to enable heavy onboard processing

The C4 OBD2 Dongle has already been deployed globally, and more trials are taking place in the coming months.
